Traditionally, screening of patients is based on oral examination. The aim of this review is to clarify an advanced available diagnostic aid for detection of oral cancer. Microfluidic are used for detection of circulating tumor cells in order to oral cancer screening and diagnosis. Methods: Online published articles between 2000 and 2025 were reviewed. Results: Microfluidic are suitable for studying living cells of few micrometer diameters. Microfluidics co-culture methods aid in investigating tumor cells proliferation and progression, and cell signaling between cancerous and mesenchymal cells. The microfluidics co-culture procedures have introduced a context for drug targeting. Microfluidics for tumor cell migration help in assessing cancer cell migration, introducing cell membrane as a new drug target. Saliva sample of oral cancer patient may also be evaluated. The membrane associated proteins help for diagnosis in the field of oral pathology. The studied profile is compared with the archived gene for oral cancer diagnosis. Other methods are hydrodynamic and immunomagnetic in order to separate high purity cancerous cells. Conclusion: Microfluidics with the assistances of chemistry and biotechnology have revolutionized health. The microfluidic novel diagnostic aids help in early detection of cancer which is necessary for treatment and improving the prognosis of patients. |
