خلاصه مقالهBackground: Avocados are a nutrient-dense fruit rich in healthy monounsaturated fats, fiber, and various bioactive compounds. Recent studies have suggested that an avocado-enriched diet may have beneficial effects on weight control and lipid profile. This systematic review aims to examine the impact of an avocado-enriched diet on body weight regulation and lipid profile (e.g., total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides) based on clinical and observational studies. Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted across PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science for studies published between 2000 and 2024. Randomized controlled trials, clinical trials, and cohort studies evaluating the effects of an avocado-enriched diet on weight control and lipid profile were included. Studies were required to report on changes in weight, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, and lipid levels after avocado consumption. Data on study design, sample size, and avocado dosage were extracted and analyzed. Results: Out of 350 studies initially identified, 15 studies met the inclusion criteria. The pooled data indicate that an avocado-enriched diet significantly improved lipid profiles, particularly by increasing HDL cholesterol and reducing total cholesterol and triglyceride levels. In terms of weight control, avocado consumption was associated with a modest reduction in body weight, body mass index (BMI), and waist circumference, especially in overweight and obese individuals. The effects on weight control were more pronounced when avocados were incorporated into a balanced, calorie-controlled diet. Additionally, avocado intake improved satiety, which may contribute to reduced caloric intake and better weight management. Conclusion: An avocado-enriched diet appears to offer favorable effects on lipid profiles and weight control, particularly in overweight and obese individuals. These findings support the inclusion of avocados in dietary interventions aimed at improving cardiovascular health and promoting weight management. However, further large-scale, long-term clinical trials are needed to better understand the mechanisms underlying these effects and determine optimal intake levels.
