| خلاصه مقاله | Honey bees create numerous products with bioactive components. The use of honey bee products to prevent and treat many different diseases is referred to as apitherapy which has recently attracted much attention in scientific research. In traditional medicine, the benefits of some bee products such as honey, royal jelly, and propolis have been recognized for centuries, but bee venom has received less attention. Therefore, this review aims to investigate applications of bee venom in apitherapy. Melittin, apamin, and phospholipase A2 are the primary components of bee venom, forming the essential foundation for its pharmacological properties. The therapeutic and preventive uses of bee venom in apitherapy include anticancer effects, delaying the development of neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease, alleviating inflammatory diseases such as arthritis, analgesic effects, anti-infectivity effects against viral, bacterial, and fungal infections, protective impact on liver, kidney, lung, and muscle injury, anti-diabetic efficacy, protective effect on the cardiovascular system, and improving reproductive and growth performance. These scientific findings and reports confirm the importance of honeybees in the holy Quran and hadiths. So much so that there is a Surah named ‘Al-Nahl’ in the Quran. Additionally, in a hadith from the Prophet Muhammad, the believer is likened to a honeybee because everything the bee does is beneficial. In conclusion, in addition to several honey bee products, even its venom has many health benefits in people's health which could be evidence of the importance that the Quran and hadiths attach to honey bees. Scientific findings highlight the importance of paying more attention to the Quran, its concepts, and its commentary. |
