| خلاصه مقاله | Abstract Background and Objective: Testicular torsion occurs when the spermatic cord twists around the testicles, cuts off the blood supply and leads to tissue hypoxia. Tribulus Terrestris extract is known as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The aim was to investigate the effect of the Tribulus Terrestris extract on testis tissues damaged and the oxidative stress markers related to testicular torsion-detorsion. Material and Methods: Rats were randomly divided into three groups: control group in which no interventions are made ،testicular torsion-detorsion and finally testicular torsion-detorsion that treated by Tribulus Terrestris extract. Testicular torsion was induced by 720 degrees of counterclockwise rotation of the left testis for 4h. After the duration of the induction of the torsion-detorsion was done. The animals were given daily intraperitoneal administrations of Tribulus Terrestris extract (300 mg/kg) for 2 weeks. The measurement of the oxidative stress markers and testosterone level and sperm parameters, as well as assessments of histopathology of testis were conducted 56 days after detorsion. Findings: The Johnson score, along with the thickness and diameter of the seminiferous tubules epithelium and sperm parameters was significantly decreased in the testicular torsion-detorsion group compared to the control .The level of testosterone, CAT and ,GPX was notably decreased in testicular torsion-detorsion group in comparison with control. On the other hand, in experimental groups after receiving treatment with the Tribulus Terrestris extract were notably increased as compared to torsion-detorsion group. The levels of testosterone , SOD and glutathione peroxidase activity also increased significantly in the treated group compared to torsion-detorsion group. The MDA levels declined in therapy group compared to TD group. Conclusion: The findings of the current study suggested that Tribulus Terrestris might have provided a protective effect against testicular torsion-detorsion injury. |
