| خلاصه مقاله | Background and Aims Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) is an ischemic condition that lasts less than 24 hours. Recent literature has demonstrated that increasing post-ischemia inflammatory phase-related metabolic variables can improve diagnosis over imaging approaches. The serum level of the hematopoietic stem cell CD34 marker is one of the components that rises during neuroglial cell damage and intracerebral hemorrhage. We aimed to look into changes in this biomarker in TIA patients. Methods This analytical observational study was carried out from April 2023 to February 2024. This study included 14 patients diagnosed with TIA based on clinical and radiological data, as well as 14 healthy controls. The serum level of the CD34 marker was determined using an ELISA kit. The statistical analysis includes the Chi-square test for qualitative variables and the independent T-test or Mann-Whitney U test for quantitative variables, both with a 95% confidence interval and 0.05 level of significance for the p-value. Results The mean age of TIA and the control group was 62.78 ± 15.49 and 30.07 ± 4.32, respectively. In the TIA group, the serum level of CD34 (1.72 [2.63]; P value <0.001) was significantly greater than the control group (0.62 [0.77]). Men with TIA (0.90 [0.59]; P value: 0.024) had a significantly greater level of CD34 compared to women with TIA (2.82 [2.66]). Conclusions CD34 had a considerable increase among TIA patients. Assessment of CD34 in further diagnostic accuracy trials with age- and gender-matched groups will provide greater assurance about clinical judgment and the efficacy of CD34 as a biomarker. |
