| خلاصه مقاله | Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has posed an unexpected challenge to the healthcare sector. The readiness of the health system, especially hospitals, in COVID-19 management is important and undeniable. The aim of this study was to identify the measures and initiatives of some university hospitals in Tehran in the first wave of new coronavirus epidemic.
Methods: The present study was qualitative research, which was conducted between May 2020 to july2020 in some university hospitals in Tehran. The data collection tool was a semi-structure interview; the interviews continued until the data were saturated. A total of 16 members of the study population, including managers and assistants of hospitals with at least five years of management experience, were purposefully selected. Data analysis was performed by thematic analysis.
Findings: By conducting 16 interviews, measures and initiatives of hospitals in three categories of management and organization, human resources, and facilities and equipment's in addition to12 theme including financial and spiritual support of the organization, human resources capability, human resources provision, specialized and committed human resources, crisis management, communications and coordination, processes and procedure management, rules and regulations, diagnostic-therapeutic equipment, medicine, physical space adaptation, and personal protective equipment were categorized.
Conclusion: Identifying the positive and negative experiences of hospitals in the face of this epidemic is essential to increase its resilience. Investing in the hospital's human resources and upgrading their capabilities, having a crisis response plan, utilization of modern methods of providing services, improving the hospital's physical infrastructure and efforts to strengthen preventive measures will help in the face of a crisis. |
