| خلاصه مقاله | BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Several factors can play role in people's participation in vaccination programs, including demographic factors, perception of people regarding the safety and effectiveness of vaccines, and people's perception about the risk of covid-19. The present study was conducted to investigate associated factors of COVID-19 vaccine refusal in Tabriz city. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this case-control study. Two random samples of 439 people who did not receive any dose of the Covid-19 vaccine (cases), and 439 subjects who received at least two doses of the covid-19 vaccine (as control groups) were recruited. All cases and controls had over 12 years old. A questionnaire was designed to collect data about probable effective factors of Covid-19 vaccine refusal, which was designed and validated by reviewing the literature and experts opinions. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression method was used to test the statistical associations. All analyzes were performed using SPSS version 26. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: In total of 855 subjects, 48.7% had not received covid-19 vaccine. Men had 3.4 time more odds for vaccine refusal. Single people showed 2.1 higher chance of refusal than married people. People with university education were more likely to receive the vaccine than illiterate people (OR=0.047). Vaccine refusal is negatively associated with increasing socio economic status and perceived vaccine efficacy (OR=0.84). Fear of vaccine side effects and injection also increased the chance of vaccine refusal (OR=7.13) Conclusion: Health policy makers should understand people's concern about the Covid-19 vaccine so that they can increase the vaccination coverage in the country by increasing public trust, the level of public perception about of the disease and the safety of the produced vaccines. |
