| خلاصه مقاله | Introduction: The global COVID-19 pandemic that erupted abruptly in 2019 has impacted the lives of individuals worldwide. The education system was not exempt from this, and with the closure of schools and universities and the shift to online education, numerous challenges emerged for students. The aim of this review study is to examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the academic problems of students in 2024.
Search Strategy: In this study, a search was conducted in reputable scientific databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar using relevant keywords such as 'COVID-19,' 'academic problems,' 'students,' and 'online education.' The search for articles was conducted within the timeframe of 2019 to 2024, yielding 1500 articles in the initial search. Upon evaluating the articles based on study inclusion criteria, 18 articles were included in the study.
Results: A review of the studies revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the academic problems of students. The findings were categorized into four themes: Academic Decline: Many students have experienced academic decline due to insufficient concentration in the home environment, lack of motivation, and weak interactions with teachers and classmates. Anxiety and Depression: The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting stress have led to increased anxiety and depression among students, negatively impacting their academic performance. Educational Inequality: Students who lacked access to the necessary tools and technologies for online education or lived in crowded and noisy environments were more prone to academic problems. Lack of Motivation and Engagement: Online education and the absence of in-person classes have led to a decrease in student motivation and engagement with teachers and classmates.
Conclusion and Discussion: The COVID-19 pandemic has presented numerous challenges for students and has resulted in an increase in their academic problems. It is imperative that educational authorities take appropriate measures, including providing academic and psychological support, to assist students in overcoming these challenges. |
