| خلاصه مقاله | Introduction: In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019 and the widespread infection of individuals, healthcare systems sought to develop treatments. One of the measures implemented was vaccination. However, due to the short duration of clinical trials to confirm their safety and efficacy, it appears that they have had side effects following administration. Therefore, this review study was conducted with the aim of determining the adverse effects of COVID-19 vaccination in 2024.
Search Strategy: This study is an integrative review conducted in 2024. A literature review was conducted from 2019 to 2024. In this study, relevant keywords such as 'COVID-19', 'short-term adverse effects', 'long-term adverse effects' and 'COVID-19 vaccines' were used to search databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, etc. In the initial review, approximately 1000 articles were found. After evaluating the articles based on the inclusion criteria, approximately 20 articles were selected and included in the study.
Results: Upon reviewing the results, two categories of vaccine side effects were identified: short-term and long-term. The association between vaccine side effects and the type and dose of vaccine administered was examined. Short-term adverse effects included pain and redness at the injection site, headache, muscle pain, chills, fever, nausea, etc. Long-term adverse effects included fatigue, menstrual disturbances, myalgia, arthralgia, dizziness, and headache.
Conclusion and Discussion: COVID-19 vaccines are an important tool in the fight against this disease. However, based on the results obtained, it appears that reviewing the results of studies on vaccine side effects and making changes to them to combat future pandemics seems necessary. |
