| خلاصه مقاله | Individualizing patient treatment is a core objective of the medical field. Personalized
medicine differs from precision medicine. In personalized medicine, which has been
considered for some time, the patient is viewed as an individual from diagnosis to
therapy. Precision medicine (PM) has been defined as an approach that uses a person's
genetics, environment, and lifestyle to help determine the best approach to prevent or
treat disease.
Precision medicine in the epilepsies, autism spectrum disorder has gathered much
attention, especially with gene discovery pushing forward new understanding of
disease biology. although epilepsy can result from factors such as stroke, asphyxia,
infections, autoimmune disorders, trauma, and tumors, a significant number of
subjects with epilepsy are thought to have an underlying genetic factor. Recent
developments in molecular genetics have improved our understanding of the genetic
causes, contributors, and modifiers of epilepsy. Next-generation sequencing has led to
an explosion of gene discoveries in human disorders and up to 50% of monogenic
epilepsies reach a precision diagnosis. |
