| خلاصه مقاله | Background and aim: Successful aging is the feeling of inner satisfaction and happiness of the
person from the current and past life. The implementation of this concept in any society requires
attention to it in macro plans and policies. For this purpose, this study was conducted with the aim
of investigating the elements and components of the concept of successful aging in the health
programs of Iran and other selected countries.
Method: The present research is a comparative study that First, a literature review was done.
By searching the internal websites, documents and circulars of the Ministry of Health, the programs
that are being developed and implemented regarding the elderly were extracted and the components
that were emphasized in each program were identified. Finally, the elements and components of the
coverage of the concept of old age the success in Iran was investigated with other leading countries
in this field and the existing gaps were compared in the form of a comparative study.
Findings: By examining the health programs of the country, the elements and components of
successful aging in each of the programs were determined. The sub-components of health
promotion, provision of appropriate health services, medical and treatment services have been emphasized
in most of the country’s health program packages, while the sub-components of disease
prevention, long-term care, adherence of the elderly to the use of provided services, social support,
education and literacy, income, insurance and social support and employment have not been taken
into consideration in any of the programs. Among the examined countries, the health programs of
the two countries, Canada and the United States, are highly compatible with the components of
successful aging in the framework of the World Health Organization. And more than 60% of WHO
components have been considered in the programs of this country
Conclusion: Considering the lack of important components such as prevention of diseases,
long-term care, adherence of the elderly to the use of the services provided, health policy makers
should fill the existing gap by following the example of successful old age programs in selected
countries in this field. Also, in order to provide components such as social support, education and
literacy, insurance and employment, inter-sectoral conflict at the level of the ministries of welfare,
education, economy and finance seems necessary.
