| خلاصه مقاله | Background: Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is challenging in human medicine. Despite the application of different medications, attempts should be directed at developing and finding novel treatment protocols. Objective: Here, we investigated the effects of music on the restoration of ovarian function in the POI animal model. Materials and Methods: Cyclophosphamide-induced female POI Wistar rats (8 wk old; n = 20) were exposed to Mozart’s classical music (K.448) for up to 8 hr/wk for 2 months with a volume of 65-70 dB. After that, the serum levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), and estradiol (E2) were measured and compared to the POI control rats. We also followed up on mating trials in music-treated POI rats and compared the litter counts to the control POI group. Results: Music therapy suppressed the FSH (2.13 ± 0.67 vs. 3.26 ± 0.11 mIU/mL; p = 0.04) and LH (2.92 ± 0.47 vs. 3.74 ± 0.44 mIU/mL; p > 0.05) levels and increased the E2 contents (0.70 vs. 0.17 ng/mL; p = 0.04) compared to their respective POI controls. Along with these changes, the number of normal follicles at different developmental steps was increased. The reduced fertility rate was compensated after the exposure of POI rats to classical music (p = 0.04). Conclusion: Music supports restoring ovarian function in POI rats by regulating sex-related hormones. |
