خلاصه مقالهAim/Introduction: Precision psychiatry aims is to accurately predict treatment response. Here, we tested pre-treatment patient characteristics and functional imaging markers to predict treatment response accuracy in patients with social anxiety disorders (SAD). Materials and Methods: The selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) escitalopram or placebo was administered for 9 weeks to 40 SAD patients (mean SD age 32.1 ± 8.2 years, 20 women). The Clinical Global Impression Improvement scale was used to define treatment responders (CGI-I ≤ 2). Imaging with single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) was conducted before and after treatment. Based on pre-treatment neuroimages, support vector machines (SVMs) were used to separate responders from non-responders. SVM models were tested using leave-one-subject-out cross-validation. Results: High accuracy was achieved by classifying treatment responders from non-responders using a linear SVM. Higher post-treatment perfusion was observed in responders compared to non-responders, particularly in those treated with SSRIs. Conclusion: Based on these results, psychiatric symptoms of clinical recovery are consistent with functional brain perfusion imaging findings on an individual basis.
