| خلاصه مقاله | Introduction: Hypersensitivity reactions are sudden, unpredictable, and sometimes dangerous reactions that may occur during or after chemotherapy infusion. Type 2 histamine receptor blockers play a main role as part of hypersensitivity reactions preventing regimen. Due to the ranitidine recall from the drug market, finding a suitable alternative to this drug seems necessary as premedication in chemotherapy induced hypersensitivity reaction Materials and Methods: 396 patients who received platinum-based agents and taxanes as part of their chemotherapy regimen were screened and randomly divided into two groups. To evaluate the effectiveness of famotidine in preventing hypersensitivity reactions, 183 patients in the case group received a conventional regimen along with two dose of 40 mg oral famotidine the night and one hour before chemotherapy. From all, 213 patients in the control group just received a conventional premedication regimen. Results: Based on the results examined, six individuals experienced hypersensitivity reactions in the control group, and there were no cases of hypersensitivity reactions in the case group. Conclusion: Due to the significant difference between the control group and the case group. (p-value= 0.022) Administration of 40 mg oral famotidine has been effective in preventing hypersensitivity reactions induced by chemotherapy drugs. |
