| خلاصه مقاله | Introduction: Migraine is one of the most frequent primary headaches. Myofascial trigger points in cervical muscles could enhance symptoms of migraine. Manual therapy could be an effective way to improve trigger point, specially when combined with routine medicals. Thus, we reviewed recent published researches to investigate the effects of positional release technique on clinical symptoms in patients with migraine headache.
Method: PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, Cochrane, and ProQuest were searched in English and Persian languages. Eligible studies in patients with migraine that were treated with manual therapy since 2019 to 2021 were included. Physiotherapy, Positional release technique, Manual therapy, Soft tissue release, Migraine, and Pain were used as key words.
Result: Eight studies met the inclusion criteria and were divided based on the intervention. The effects of massage, exercise therapy, and positional release technique on clinical symptoms in patients with migraine headache were assessed including five, two, and one studies, respectively.
Conclusion: While, moderate evidence suggests a positive effect of massage on pain intensity and frequency in migraine patients, the effects of positional release technique on clinical symptoms are inconclusive. Since, positional release technique may be considered as a useful and feasible complementary intervention within a multimodal approach in improving symptoms of the patients, more high-quality trials in order to investigate its effects are clearly needed. |
