| The present study aimed at evaluating the level of blood pressure before anesthetic induction by chemical drugs in patients with normal and hypertensive blood pressure. The present study was performed on 100 patients (50 patients with a history of hypertension and 50 others with normal blood pressure) who were candidates for orthopedic surgery in 2019. The subjects were examined for blood pressure and heart rate after entering the operating room and before chemical anesthetic induction (10 minutes). The changes in blood pressure were recorded during surgery, and the results were compared between the two groups. Patients with normal or hypertensive blood pressure experienced an increase in blood pressure level in the preoperative period. The frequency of patients with systolic hypertension (above 140 mmHg) was significantly higher in the hypertensive group than the normal group at the time points after chemical anesthetic induction and two minutes after baseline. The results showed that patients with a history of hypertension experienced an increase in blood pressure level after anesthetic induction and two minutes after baseline. Perioperative hypertension is even observed in individuals with normal blood pressure, and increased blood pressure cannot be a reason for surgical delay. It is better to consider factors contributing to increased blood pressure in patients with hypertension, due to the lack of significant difference with the ones with normal blood pressure, and precisely examine early cancellation of surgery. |
