| خلاصه مقاله | Background: For management of chronic disease such as diabetes, the attitude toward the disease is critical factor. Because the prevalence of diabetes among women was considerable and there is limited study in East Azarbaijan province of Iran on the attitude of diabetic women toward their diabetes, we decided to perform a study to assess diabetic women’s attitude toward their disease. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study. The convenient sampling method was done to select women with type 2 diabetes referred to prevention clinic of Tabriz University of medical sciences from Jun 2020 to December 2020. We used Diabetes Attitude Survey (DAS) questionnaire, a reliable and valid questionnaire to evaluate patient’s attitudes toward diabetes. The questionnaire was contained 30 questions in 5-point Likert scale. So, the maximum and minimum attainable scores were 150 and 30respectively. Then the valuation criteria were determined as follows: valuation of 101-150: proper, valuation of 51-100: moderately proper, valuation of ≤ 50: improper. The participants completed the questionnaire after signing the written informed consent. Results: Totally, 115 women entered the study. The mean age (SD) of participants was 46.31(1.2) years. The most of participants had Family history of diabetes (85.4%). The mean attitude score was66.17 ± 5.71. There was a positive correlation between the scores of patients’ attitudes and their age (r = 0.311, p = 0.01). Conclusion: The diabetic rural women have moderately appropriate attitude toward their disease Message for policy makers: In order to improve diabetic women’s attitudes toward diabetes proper interventions are needed. |
