| خلاصه مقاله | Studying Correlation between Sensitivity and Noise Annoyance and Objective Acoustic Indicators (Leq, PNC, and PSIL) in Hospitals and Health Centers - A review study Introduction : Hospitals and health centers are from among workplaces in which educational and health services are rendered; while, employees and patients there are facing with sources of noise pollution. In terms of occupational health and psychological tranquility, this has negative impact on patients and employees. Taking indicators of acoustic tranquility into consideration is of high importance in terms of patients’ welfare and peace. The review study has been aimed at studying correlation between noise sensitivity and annoyance and objective indicators of acoustic tranquility (Leq, PNC, and PSIL) in hospitals and health centers Material and methods : In this study, a review has been made on correlation between noise sensitivity and annoyance and objective indicators of acoustic tranquility (Leq, PNC, and PSIL) in hospitals and health centers; and, from among 82 articles collected from Web of Science, Scopus, Iran Medex, MagIran, SID, Pub Med, and Google Scholar databases, 31 articles in total in Persian and English languages have been selected with no time limit and in accordance with research objective; and, related data have been extracted : Results Based on the results obtained, it became clear that noise pollution has positive and increasing relationship with occupational burnout in physicians and nurses. Noise pollution also will lead to noise sensitivity in people which is related to intense and early judgment in people. There is positive correlation between noise pollution in hospitals and physiological responses experienced by patients and medical staff. As shown by researches, there is a positive and direct relationship between indicators of PNC (preferred noise criteria) and PSIL (preferred speech interference level), as well. Also, there is a statistically significant relationship between two indicators of noise sensitivity and annoyance; while, there is also significant relationship between the two subjective indictors of noise annoyance and sensitivity and objective equivalent continuous sound level (Leq). From among other results obtained from researches performed, reference can be made to direct relationship existing between indicators of noise annoyance and sensitivity and those of PNC and PSIL Conclusion : Considering standards, when PNC value is high (about 50-60), verbal communication among people would become very difficult. According to studies performed, mean score of noise sensitivity in women is higher than that of men, in general. Significant statistical relationship existing between indicators of noise annoyance and sensitivity indicates that those people more sensitive to noise are more prone to annoyance resulted from that. Using PSIL indicator and specifying appropriate distances between work stations as well as between employees and those referring to hospitals and health centers; acoustic correction in the environment can be performed Keywords: Hospital; Noise Annoyance ; noise sensitivity ; parameters of acoustic comfort |
