| Adherence of bacteria to surfaces such as an implant one leads to the production of a biofilm at the implantation site which is the main reason for implant infections. In this paper, we had a view on clinical studies about antibiotic releasing coatings for implant-based infections. According to the latest improvements of material science, implants coated with biodegradable polymers can be useful in the area of delivering antibiotics. All of the antibiotics could be released by the coatings of the polymer, so, any local or systemic toxicity associated with high up and downs in antibiotic concentrations would be minimized. |
