| خلاصه مقاله | Background and Aim : This study aimed to estimate the optimal methadone dose for achieving the best treatment response from MMT in patients from Northwest of Iran. Methods : . In this cross-sectional study all of patients registered in the rehab clinic of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences during one year to receive MMT were enrolled. A total of 371 patients receiving methadone maintenance treatment were enrolled.Monthly urine morphine tests were carried out for all. The relation between dose of methadone and positive urine morphine test and best cut off point for dose of methadone has been calculated. Results : The mean value for dose of methadone was 91 mg (range 10-175 mg). Monthly urine morphine tests were carried out for all. At least one positive test was observed for 25 (6.7%) patients from whom five patients (1.3%) had positive test twice. There was a statistically significant relationship between dose of methadone and result of morphine test and the best cut off point for dose of methadone was calculated to be 80 mg with a sensitivity of 76% and specificity of 67.9%. Conclusion : This study as the first from northwest of Iran, added evidence for achievement a better response for MMT with higher dose of methadone. The optimal cutoff was introduced to be 80 mg in this population. Side effects of methadone should also be addressed to reach the best response. |
