| Nanomaterial-based biosensors have emerged as one of the most important topics in the domain of diagnostic. With the growing demand on devices with enhanced sensitivity and selectivity, rapid response time, and affordable cost, the unique characteristics of some nanoparticles (NPs) have prompted the opportunities in the application of NPs in the construction of bio-sensing devices. The localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) property of metallic NPs is widely investigated for chemical and biological sensing. Noble metals, especially gold (Au) and silver (Ag), exert special and tunable plasmonic properties; the functionalization over these metal nanostructures size and structure allows altering their LSPR and their response to the molecules. The ongoing report describes the recent methodologies employing the NPs with LSPR property for detection of biomarkers. We believe that miniaturized lab-on-a-chip devices designing by these NPs will soon be an essential part of human health care. |
