| خلاصه مقاله | Chronic systemic diseases affect all aspects of a person's life including mental health and sexual life. Behcat disease is a systemic vasculitis with unknown etiology, which is characterized by recurrent genital oral ulcers, uveitis, musculoskeletal involvement, gastrointestinal involvement and neurological symptoms.
Behcet’s disease affects various parts of the body, including the central nervous system and the urogenital system and can affect sexual life and satisfaction. (both cause of organic and mental affects)
Since in previous studies, the effects of Behcet's disease on sexual function and mental health of Behcet's patients, especially in Iran, has not been fully investigated, this study aimed to investigate in these patients and compare them with healthy people. On therefore, this dimension of health in the patients should be more attentive to the health professionals.
Method: In this descriptive-analytical study, 16 female patients with Behcet's disease and 15 healthy people who qualified for entry and exclusive criteria were examined from October 1994 to March 1994. The sampling was carried out among the people referred to the Rheumatology Clinic and the Psychiatric Clinic affiliated to Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, as well as those who referred to the outpatient wards and admitted to other parts of Imam Reza Hospital in Tabriz for control group.
In this study, we used ICBD criteria to diagnose Behcet’s disease, and to assess the psychiatric symptoms of Behcet’s disease we used SCL90-R and CSES-13 questionnaire in women. The FSFI questionnaire was used to diagnose sexual dysfunction in women. Control and patients group were matched together based on age and marital status.
In terms of age, the mean age of the patients in the patients group was 39 ±9 and in the control group was 38 ± 8, which was not statistically significant between the two groups.
Results: In all of 10 psychiatric symptoms including somatic symptoms, obsessive-compulsive, sensitivity to relationships, depression, anxiety, anger, phobia and paranoid, psychotic and other symptoms between the two groups of patients and control, there was no significant difference except for the somatic symptoms (p <0.05), which indicated an increase in the patient group.
The sexual performance score of women with Behcet's disease and healthy controls in all six domains including sexual desire, stimulation, mucus lubrication, orgasm, sexual satisfaction and sexual pain were statistically significant between the two groups of patients and healthy group.
Conclusion: In this study, in women with Behcet's disease, there was a significant difference between the control group in Iran in all areas of sexual function. However, there was no significant difference in the symptoms of psychiatry in patients and control group, except in somatic symptoms. This issue is being considered less by both patients and the health care professionals, which, of course, can be attributed to culture and other social problems in Iran. According to these results, it is hoped that this will be considered more and will be part of a routine study in practice. |
