| خلاصه مقاله | Radio worker beta Ray detection via bremsstrahlung x-ray measurement The nuclear techniques for direct assessment of the health hazard associated with radionuclide inhalations are essential for monitoring and dosimetry of the people exposed to radiation. Selection of the experimental methods for detection of the internal contamination is determined by nuclear and physical characteristics of the deposited radionuclide. The main dose-forming radionuclide is strontium (Sr-90). It is a bone- seeking radionuclide that incorporates in the skeleton and remains there for many years. Thus; it can be detected for long periods after inhalation. The bremsstrahlung X- ray is emitted from the strontium B- ray interactions within the lunge. In this research we used chest phantom and the Monte Carlo MCNP code to simulate response of a NaI scintillator to the X-rays.To validate the Monte Carlo modeling of phantom, source and detector, we implanted the strontium source in different positions within the lunge of the phantom and measured the X-ray energy spectrum with the experimental ones. Finally, to optimize the detector –phantom configuration, we examined different angular and radial positions of the scintillator on the chest phantom. We found that it is possible to measure (with adequate efficiency) the radioactivity of a pure B- emitting using a NaI scintillator. |
