Materials and Methods: In this study, published articles with keywords related to breast cancer imaging methods were extracted through scientific search engines. For each of the imaging methods, articles that were relevant to the past ten years were selected, then the titles and abstracts were reviewed and the most relevant papers were selected. Finally, for each imaging method, an average of 5 papers were filtered. Ultimately, about 30 articles were studied and their results were categorized and presented in the form of a report as follows.
Results: Breast is one of the organs with a variety of imaging methods because of its specific structure and shape. Methods in which used in ionizing radiation, ultrasonic waves, magnetic waves and optical methods, and microwave waves. In this review article, various breast imaging techniques mechanisms and capabilities were extracted and assessed. Mammography , Digital Tomosynthesis , Contrast Enhanced Mammography , Sonography, Sono-Elastography , magnetic resonance Imaging, magnetic elastography , magnetic spectroscopy, Nuclear Medicine, Optical imaging , Microwave Imaging.
Conclusion: Each of the imaging methods has its own advantages and disadvantages, their function depends on the patient's state and stage, the age of the individual and the density of the breast tissue. Hybrid imaging techniques appear to be an acceptable way to improve detection of breast cancer.
