| خلاصه مقاله | The fluid management of the pediatric surgery patient is a critical element of pediatric care. When compared to adult patients, the management of pediatric surgical patients is simplified by the use of established protocols that dose electrolytes and fluids on a per kilogram basis. However, children and infants are relatively sensitive to small degrees of dehydration, and there is no room for error in the care of these children. The commonly used protocols for pediatric fluid therapy do not take into account rapidly changing perioperative fluid requirements. Regardless of the management approach adopted to guide therapy, flexibility should take into account the changing physiology of the pediatric surgical patient. This article reviews the concepts of fluid physiology and offers a plan to guide the fluid management of a pediatric surgery patient. |
