| Abstract
Introduction: Ventilator- association pneumonia is associated with nurses 'function as a
highly infectious disease, and if nurses' performance is based on preventive guidelines, the
probability of reducing the incidence of this type of infection is unexpected therefore, the
researchers aimed to carry out a study aimed at educating nurses based on clinical guidelines
in the prevention of ventilator- association pneumonia.
Method: This quasi-experimental study was conducted on 100 nurses working in intensive
care units of Imam Reza Hospital in Tabriz during 1397, who were randomly assigned to
control and intervention groups. Ventilator-dependent pneumonia prevention methods were
trained for the intervention group and the nurses' performance scores were compared on the
basis of the checklist before and after the intervention and were compared using descriptive
statistics and independent t-test.
Results: Nurses were not statistically different in any of the domains in the intervention and
control groups before and after the intervention; the score for the intervention nurses before
the intervention was 18.82 ± 2.86 and after the intervention The intervention was 21.07 ±
2.85, which was not statistically different (P = 0.292).
Conclusion: The inferiority of the training of ventilator-associated pneumonia prevention
techniques for nurses has several reasons and finding of the exact reasons is essential and
inevitable. |
