| خلاصه مقاله | Background and Objectives: Cystic fibrosis is a fatal genetic disorder. Management of respiratory complications of the disease is of great importance and is of challenging issue for parents. The objective of this study was the effect of parent education on occupational performance of children with cystic fibrosis. Materials and Methods: 15 families with cystic fibrosis children were included in this study. The occupational performance of children was evaluated with Canadian Occupational Performance Measure before and after a parent education program (about respiratory and physical education in the context of play therapy) that was conducted in 8 weekly sessions by experienced physiotherapist and occupational therapists. Findings: The satisfaction and performance scores of occupational performance of children were significantly altered after education (P=0.012, P=0.005). Conclusion: The better occupational performance of children can be explained by two ways first improvements of the physical condition of the child and second increasing in awareness and knowledge of parents about the disease management and interaction with children at home. |
