| خلاصه مقاله | Background and Objectives: Management of cystic fibrosis is multidimensional. This management is time consuming, expensive and complicated. Therefore the general health of parents may be influenced because of too much demand imposed to parents. The aim of this study was the effect of cystic fibrosis management education of parents at home on quality of life of mothers. Materials and Methods: 15 families with cystic fibrosis children were participating in this study. The quality of life of mothers was assessed by General Health Status and WHOOL-Brief questionnaires before and after a parent education program (about respiratory and physical education in the context of play therapy and group training) that was conducted in 8 weekly sessions by experienced physiotherapist and occupational therapists. Findings: General health of mothers was improved in social function and physical health subscales of General Health Status and WHOOL-Brief questionnaires respectively (P=0.026 and P=0.048). Conclusion: Because of the group training nature of this educational program, the mothers practiced interactive behaviors. Self-confidence of mothers may improve after education program. The improvements in child performance may be effective in reducing mothers’ physical complications. Therefore home management education in groups is recommended for families with cystic fibrosis children. |
