| The cervical vertebrae are visible on the lateral cephalograms, which are routinely used in orthodontics diagnostic
procedures, so that represents an additional advantage of this method. The aim of this systematic and meta-analysis study
were Use of Lateral Cephalometrics in the Application of Cervical Vertebral Maturation Stages Index in Orthodontics. The
search took place between 2005 and 2019. Database search was conducted using MEDLINE, PubMed, Cochrane Library,
Embase, ISI, google scholar. In this study, we first reviewed the abstract of the articles and selected the studies that had the
most coordination with our goals, and then we examined the entire text and finally, six studies were selected. In this
systematic review and meta-analysis, 650 patients were evaluated in this study. The minimum age for participants was 8,
and the highest was 49. Just in one study. The relation between the results of the studies was significant (p=0.02). This
systematic and meta-analysis showed, the lateral cephalometric radiograph belonging to the standard set of records would
be sufficient to evaluate skeletal maturity. |
