| خلاصه مقاله | A review of the quality control status of diagnostic radiology device in Iran
• Introduction
Annually, more than 20 million x-ray examinations are performed in radiology centers of Iran. This issue causes an increase in the Accumulative absorbed doses. Exact execution of radiation protection principles and roles is a great tool to decrease these side effects. One of the main step of dose optimization in diagnostic image is quality control. The aim of this study was to survey quality control status of diagnostic x-ray devises in Iran by review of already published articles.
• Materials and Methods
Without any time limitation and using standard terms, some databases including SID, Magiran, IranMedex, Google Scholar and Pubmed were searched. From a total of 64 unique citations identified from all sources, 11 were included for data extraction.
• Results
From the overall 231 imaging centers, the percentage of the machines that could not pass the acceptance level of critical quality control parameters such as kvp accuracy, exposure time accuracy, output linearity, light and radiation field adaption and reproducibility of exposure were 24.11% , 16.88% , 10.53% , 20.27% and 8.35% respectively . Moreover, the thickness of HVL was lower than the acceptable limit in 12.28% of devices.
• Conclusion
Nowadays dose monitoring is a great challenges in clinics to alleviate of patient dose. Quality control in diagnostic radiology has a vital role in patient dose as well as image quality, so in order to excellent implementation of ALARA, there should be rigorous mechanisms to perform of quality controls tests in clinics routinely. So it is recommended that these tests done in short intervals. |
