| خلاصه مقاله | The role of PET/CT in early detection and management of locally advanced Gastric carcinoma Introduction: Gastric cancer is the fourth cause of death in the world and approximately 1 million peoples died each year. Early diagnosis of this cancer can cause to arise of survival. PET scan is a molecular imaging modality can help to early detection of sub clinical origin of cancer. Nowadays PET has a major role in staging, recurrence after chemotherapy and radiotherapy cancer too. The aim of this study is review of the comparison of the accuracy of PET/CT with CT alone scan . Methods: The authors were referring to scientific resources as google scholar, Scopus, PubMed, Elsevier and searched the keyword as “Gastric cancer”, “PET/CT” and “CT” . Finally found 10 completely related articles. Eventually the results were analyzed. Results: In general PET/CT scan more accusative than CT alone. The sensitivity of PET/CT and CT are 89% and 68% respectively. he specificity of were 71% and 64% respectively. PET is relatively more sensitive than CT for detecting stage IV disease(74% vs.47%)with distance lymph node involvement and / or accidental double cancer. However the sensitivity of PRT for the detection of locally advanced gastric carcinomas is dependent on the microscopic growth type of the tumor. The overall detection rate of PET/CT was 0.8% and the sensitivity , specificity , PPV and NPV were 69 , 97 ,23 and 99% respectively. Conclusion: PET is useful modality for the early diagnosis of gastric cancer. |
