| خلاصه مقاله | Background: Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and Low back pain (LBP) are common postnatal problems. This two-arm, single-blind, parallel, randomized controlled trail was done to compare the effects of stabilization exercise focusing on pelvic floor on postnatal SUI and LBP.
Materials and Methods: 80 women (20-45 Y/O), with postnatal SUI and LBP participated in this study. All participants were randomly assigned to the control group (n=40) that received no treatment, or the intervention group (n=40) that received stabilization exercises focusing on PFMs (12 weeks). Clinical characteristics of the study subjects including UI intensity assessed by ICIQ-UI-SF, LBP Functional disability assessed by ODI, LBP Pain intensity assessed by VAS, PFM strength and endurance, and transverse abdominis (TrA) muscle strength were measured before and after treatment.
Results: PFM strength, TrA muscle strength, functional disability and pain intensity were significantly improved in the intervention group than in the control group (P<0.05). All outcomes except pain intensity (P=0.06) were improved in intervention group after the intervention period (P<0.05). PFM strength and endurance and UI intensity were improved in control group after the intervention period (P<0.05).
Conclusion: Stabilization exercises focusing on pelvic floor can be effective on postnatal LBP and SUI. Trial Registration: Iranian Registry of Clinical Trials |
