Objectives:
Improvement of developmental status of children in institutional care via play, experience with children
and teaching care givers CCD approach.
Methods:
In April 2017 all of the children between 4 to 60 months old whom cared in an institute screened with
ASQ II (Ages & Stages Questionnaire).
Scores compared with cut-off points and revealed that majority of the children have low scores than cut
off points in different domains, specially in communication domain. Two child health nurse who had
certificate of 'care for child development' started to play and providing opportunity of new experiences
and stimulation to children. They also trained to care givers about including principles of 'care for child
development'. They re-evaluated the children after 2 to 4 weeks.
Results:
The total number of children was 38. ASQII was completed for 28. seven of children passed the screen
and 21 failed .CCD approach was applied for all failed children. In re-evaluation 11 children showed
improvement , 6 were without change and 5 are under supervision and will re-evaluate later.
Conclusions:
Environmental deprivation is one of the important reasons of developmental disorder. This is relevant in
the case Of Children whom cared in institutions.
Training and implementation of CCD make considerable developmental improvement in these children
and decreases emotional, social and economical load of mental disabilities on community. |
