| خلاصه مقاله | Introduction & Aims:Breast cancer is the most common malignancy and the leading cause of
death from cancers among women worldwide. Based on the recent reports published by the
Iranian Cancer Registry breast cancer is the most common cancer in females and comprises 24.6%
of all cases of cancer.
Methods:In total, 5 years of cancer registry data from East Azerbaijan were collected from
different sources. A final data quality check was performed to achieve clean data, and agestandardized
incidence rates (ASRs) were generated for different cancers using the 2000 World
Health Organization standard population. Data were generated for each solar calendar year
(Persian calendar), from 19 March 2011 to 20 March 2015. Annual percent changes (APCs) of the
ASRs of breast cancer were calculated using the JointPoint 4.3.1.0 software.
Results:A total of 2692 patients with breast cancer were registered, which 97.44% of them were
female. The annual percentage changes of age standardized incidence rate was 3.1% in total
(P<0.001). The ASR in females was increased from 21.28 to 31.14 per 100,000 women (APC= 3.1,
P<0.001), with the highest ASR in 2012 (ASR=35.19 per 100,000 women). In males there was a
decreasing trend in incidence rates (APC=-5.2, P<0.001), with the lowest ASR during 2015
(ASR=0.44 per 100,000 men).
Conclusion:Results of Last population based cancer registry in Iran showed that breast cancer
was the most common cancer for incidence and mortality rates among women, with an increasing
mortality rate in the country. Comprehensive health education programs are needed to improve
women awareness about early detection and breast cancer signs. |
