| خلاصه مقاله | Worldwide increase in the prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) indicates importance of this disorder. Physical activity and diet is the main treatment of NADFLD according to AASLd guidline. several studies show assiciation between high level of uric acid and NAFLD. The aim of the present study was to assess the effects of Allopurinol on NAFLD. A randomised, case-controled, double-blind trial was performed on patients diagnosed with NAFLD . participants assigned by random to Allopurinol (100mg once daily) or control group. Liver enzymes and grade of disease using liver ultrasonography were measured at baselineand 3 monthsfollowing intervention. No signifcant differences in baseline values were noted beween groups. in the intervention group level of uric acid reduced significantly(p=0.01). Liver enzymes did not show statistically signifacant change. Grade of disease remained without any change. Based on the results of the study, daily 100 mg Allopurinol could not improve status of disease. |
