| Abstract
Background
Diaper dermatitis is one of the most prevalent skin disorders in neonates and children. The purpose of this study is to compare the effect of Aloe Vera and chamomile ointment on the extent of diaper dermatitis in children.
Materials and Methods: In a double-blinded clinical trial, 90 children below 2 years old who used Diaper dermatits and hospitalized in Tabriz Pediatric Hospital were included using random sampling. The children were divided into three groups of 30, with one group receiving routine treatments and the other two receiving chamomile and Aloe Vera ointment three time a day. The samples were examined on the first, third, and sixth days of the study using(Diaper Rash five-point scale) . The data were analyzed by descriptive and analytical tests in SPSS Ver.22.
Results: According to the results, demographic criteria such as age, sex, and education of mothers were similar (p>0.05). also the dermatitis extent was improved in all the three groups during the study on the sixth day compared to the first day. However, in a comparison among the three groups, no significant difference was observed in the treatment of diaper dermatitis among the groups during the study. P>0.05
Conclusion: Although there was no difference between Aloe Vera, chamomile, and routine treatment, these products are suggested to be used for the treatment of dermatitis due to fewer complications of herbal drugs than the chemical ones. Also, if possible, evaluate the effects without chemical drugs. |
