| خلاصه مقاله | Abstract: Introduction:Sufficient alveolar bone volume and favorable architecture of the alveolar ridge are essential to obtain ideal functional and esthetic prosthetic reconstruction following implant therapy.several factors contribte to bone dimension size and density ,one of those factors is smoking.according to studies,marginal bone loss was significantly higher in smokers than never smokers.smoking causes the adverse effect on alveolar bone height and density and acting as a potential risk factor for alveolar bone loss,even with low tobacco consumption.this study aimed to investigate the relationship of smoking with alveolar crest height ,mandibular cortex width and densityof alveolar bone in men. Material and method:we studied 286 ptients with mean age of 43.6, .29% were smokers. We analyzed 286 CBCT radiographs and calculated alveolar crest height,mandibular cortex width and density of alveolar bone. Results:bone measurement from CEJ to the bone crest indicated a significantly greater distance among smokers.smokers exhibited significantly lower alveolar bone height values (3.12) than nonsmokers (3.49).howere the raltion between smoking and bone density and mandibular cortex width did not reach statistical significance. Conclusion: smoking was significantly associated with alveolar crest height.howerer smoking showed no significant relationship with mandibular cortex width and density of alveolar bone. |
